Brad Penn Adds Motorcycle Oils

Date: 3/4/2008

American Refining Group, Inc. (ARG) manufacturer of quality Brad Penn® Lubricants announced the addition of SAE 10W-40 and SAE 20W-50 V 2 4-Stroke High Performance Motorcycle Oils to its quality line of Brad Penn® Penn Grade 1® “The Green Oil®” High Performance Oils.

Blended with Pennsylvania Grade base oils, select synthetic components and superior additive chemistry, Brad Penn®  Penn Grade 1® V2 4-Stroke High Performance SAE 10W-40 Motorcycle Oil is specifically formulated to offer the ultimate in quality, performance and protection for motorcycles.  Unlike most other multi-viscosity motorcycle oils, the very unique viscosity modifier used in the SAE 10W-40 Motorcycle Oil is not based upon conventional polymers which can shear significantly with use and cause loss of oil viscosity.  This viscosity modifier imparts exceptional High Temperature/High Shear viscosity protection to our Brad Penn® Penn Grade 1® V2 4-Stroke High Performance SAE 10W-40 Motorcycle Oil that is so critical for protection of high speed, high revving motorcycle engines.  Further, in applications where the same oil is used for lubrication of both the engine and transmission, the excellent shear stability of this motorcycle oil offers a distinctive operational advantage over other less shear-stable oils.  Increased levels of ‘zinc’ (zinc dialkyldithiophosphate) provide exceptional anti-wear/anti-scuffing protection.  Detergents, dispersants and anti-oxidants offer protection from thermal and/or oxidative oil breakdown that can lead to varnish and deposit formation.  Anti-foam agents reduce oil foaming and air entrainment under high-speed and/or high-RPM operation.

Brad Penn®  Penn Grade 1®  V2 4-Stroke High Performance SAE 20W-50 Motorcycle Oil is formulated with Pennsylvania Grade mineral base oils and superior additive chemistry specifically designed with twin V domestic and import motorcycle engine technology/lubrication needs in mind.  It provides increased levels of ‘zinc’ (zinc dialkyldithiophosphate) for exceptional anti-wear/anti-scuffing protection.  Detergents, dispersants and anti-oxidants offer protection from thermal and/or oxidative oil breakdown that can lead to varnish and deposit formation.  Anti-foam agents reduce oil foaming and air entrainment under high-output, high revving conditions.  The SAE 20W-50 Motorcycle Oil meets JASO  MA frictional performance requirements for wet clutches and is suitable for use in applications calling for one lubricant for the engine/transmission/wet clutch and primary chain systems (if applicable).

““The Green Oil®” is the talk of the racing industry and now the ultimate protection of “The Green Oil®” is entering the motorcycle industry in a big way.  Our Research and Development group did a fantastic job formulating our green in color, motorcycle oils for both racing and street applications. Our SAE 10W-40 motorcycle oil meets JASO MA-2 which provides outstanding frictional characteristics and can be used in wet clutches.  It is suitable for use in Honda®, Kawasaki®, Suzuki®, Yamaha®, and other 4-stroke motorcycles where an API SJ, SH or SG quality oil is specified.  Our SAE 20W-50 motorcycle oil meets JASO MA frictional performance requirements for use in wet clutches and is a good choice for use in V twin engines such as those commonly found in Harley-Davidson® motorcycles where an SAE 20W-50 API Service SJ/CF, CG-4 or CH-4 quality motor oil is specified;  as well as Triumph®, Ducati®, BMW®,  and other 4-stroke domestic and import motorcycles where a SAE 20W-50 API Service SJ, SH, SG, CH-4, CG-4 or CF quality oil is specified.” stated Dick Glady, Director of Sales and Marketing for Brad Penn® Lubricants.

Brad Penn®  Penn Grade 1® High Performance Oils are formulated in six viscosity grades, partial synthetic SAE 0W-30, partial synthetic SAE 10W-30, partial synthetic SAE 20W-50, SAE 40, SAE 50 and NITRO 70.  In addition, Brad Penn recently introduced an outstanding SAE 30 Break-In Oil and a specially formulated SAE 75W-90 Supercharger/Blower High Performance Lubricant.

The Bradford, PA refinery, blending and packaging operations are ISO 9001:2000 certified and was the first refinery in the U.S.A. to become ISO 9002 certified.  The refinery stretches over 2 ½ miles and contains a fully automated state-of-the-art packaging facility.  The refinery is the oldest, continuously operated lube oil refinery in the world and the only refinery processing 100% Pennsylvania Grade Crude Oil. It is truly the last MADE IN THE U.S.A. major lubricant refinery.

In 1997, American Refining Group, Inc. purchased the Kendall® / Amalie® refinery located in Bradford, PA, from Witco Corporation.  As a result of the sale of the Kendall® and Amalie® brands to a third party, a new name was given to the products produced at the site-Brad Penn® Premium Pennsylvania Grade Lubricants.

American Refining Group, Inc. is a privately held, ISO 9001:2000 certified refinery.  American Refining Group, Inc. is a manufacturer and blender of quality Brad Penn® and Gulf® branded lubricants, packager of private label lubricants and a premier refiner of petroleum specialty products.
